Itinerary:
Day 1: Tiwanaku excursion
After departing from the hotel, on the road to Tiwanaku we will pass the Lloco Lloco viewing point, where we can observe the great high Andean plain, the sacred lake, and the highest peaks of the Cordillera Real. We will continue our journey to the Tiwanaku archaeological center, visiting the archaeological museums where the vestiges of pre-Inca cultures are conserved. Then, we will tour the archaeological complex, where we’ll see archaeological remains including the pyramids of Akapana, Kantatayita, the semi-subterranean Temple of the Sarcophagi, Kalasasaya, Putuni, the Sun Gate, and Pumapunku Temple, etc. We will also visit the Tiwanaku stone museum, after which we’ll walk through the main streets of the city, in the company of a guide who will explain the history and architecture. During the return trip to La Paz, we will visit the town of Laja, a historic place where the city of La Paz was initially founded.
